Sypherlink Unveils New Version of Harvester™

DUBLIN, Ohio, December 14, 2005 -- Sypherlink, Inc., an information-integration software provider, today unveiled version 4.0 of Harvester, the company’s innovative and industry-leading automated data mapping solution. The new version offers significant enhancements – including advanced heuristics matching capabilities – which makes it the only solution available today to automate the mapping process by performing sophisticated analysis at three levels: data, metadata, and referential data. Version 4.0 continues to accelerate the implementation of information management initiatives, including regulatory compliance, mergers and acquisitions, and homeland security.

“Harvester offers organizations a way to rapidly map large volumes of data in an automated fashion,” said James Paat, Sypherlink CEO. “Traditionally, the mapping process is very labor-intensive, costly and error-prone. As a result, manual mapping exercises are typically completed at a rate of 1-3 fields per hour per resource. Harvester’s automated mapping capabilities have proven to successfully map between 70-200 fields per hour – and at a much higher quality level.”

New features of Harvester 4.0 include:

  • Advanced heuristics matching capabilities – Harvester 4.0 utilizes a form of artificial intelligence to uniquely determine the probability of relationships by performing automated analysis at 3 levels: data, metadata and referential data. In addition, a second layer of heuristics offers support for synonym lists, allowing users to rapidly perform exception-based mapping.
  • Enhanced user interface – Harvester 4.0 enables users to more effectively and comprehensively view and manage field-level relationships across their enterprise. Additionally, subject matter experts are able to broadly apply their domain expertise across large volumes of data to determine relationships in a one-to-many fashion. The interface also supports comments, allowing users to notate information about the data at the database, table, or field level. This is especially helpful for noting transformation requirements for data moving on to other integration applications, such as Extract, Transfer & Load (ETL) applications.
  • Integration with third-party tools – Harvester is able to export its metadata, relationship and comment information directly to third party tools and applications. This includes support for industry-leading data profiling, metadata repository, EAI, ETL, and EII software applications.

About Sypherlink, Inc.

Sypherlink, Inc. is a privately-held data management software company serving the global 1000, public sector organizations, and any company with a need to manage or access information across multiple data sources. Sypherlink’s suite of products significantly reduces the time and cost associated with data-sharing and data-integration initiatives by enabling companies to quickly: gain knowledge of where key data exists across an organization; access that data from multiple, disparate sources; and ensure reliability of data, for quality and consistency. Today, this process – an essential first step in every data-sharing initiative – is manual, costly, and error-prone. Sypherlink automates the process, resulting in a much faster, less costly and higher-quality implementation. Sypherlink implementations have shown a 50 to 85 percent reduction in the time and costs associated with data sharing and integration initiatives.
