Former Sterling Commerce Exec To Head Sypherlink Enterprise Sales

DUBLIN, Ohio, November 16, 2007 -- Information-management-software company Sypherlink, Inc., said today that enterprise-data-integration expert Clark Woodford has joined the company as executive vice president of enterprise sales. In this role, Woodford is responsible for managing Sypherlink’s direct and channel sales organizations and for expanding Sypherlink’s customer and partner base in the enterprise market. 

A former vice president of enterprise e-business leader Sterling Commerce, in Columbus, Ohio, Woodford brings more than 30 years of sales, marketing and management experience to Sypherlink. Most recently, he was vice president of business development at Astute Solutions, a contact-management-solutions company, also based in Columbus.

Prior to Astute, Mr. Woodford served as corporate vice president of business development at Sterling Commerce, where he managed the merger-and-acquisition and strategic planning processes for corporate and four divisions. While with the company, he completed a dozen acquisitions and was involved in the company’s 1996 initial public offering, as well as its sale four years later to SBC Communications (now AT&T).

Woodford began his career as a marketing representative for IBM in 1969, in Columbus. He joined CompuServe in 1977 and led the growth of that company’s commercial electronic mail and value-added network businesses. As executive vice president of network services, he managed that business from a start-up to a unit with more than $40 million in revenue in a five-year period.

Woodford was also vice president of sales for CheckFree Corporation, with responsibility for growing the commercial business segment, particularly selling to the high-technology online services companies.
