Sypherlink Announces Board of Directors

DUBLIN, Ohio, August 1, 2005 -- Sypherlink, Inc., a data-management software company, today announced the appointment of its Board of Directors. Mort Collins, general partner of Battelle Ventures, L.P., will serve as chairman. Additional members are: James Paat, president and CEO of Sypherlink; William McCormick, Chief Operating Officer of Sypherlink; Curtis Crocker, managing partner of Reservoir Venture Partners; and Walter Doyle, president of Forest Capital.

Sypherlink recently closed $3.5 million in Series A financing, led by Battelle Ventures, and has aggressive plans to expand sales of its HarvesterTM software suite. The newly structured board was chosen to support these growth plans.

"The board is comprised of an elite group of individuals with extensive experience in funding, growing and managing high-technology companies," said Paat. "Assembling such an esteemed team to help guide our future success is a major win for our company, our employees and our customers."

Collins is a nationally recognized venture capitalist who has been founding partner of five venture funds and has an outstanding track record in the communications and software industries. He founded Data Science Ventures (DSV) in 1968 and for 25 years was a managing partner in four DSV partnerships that specialized in early-stage financing of high-technology companies, including Tandem Computers and General Automation. Collins also chairs the boards of PD-LD Inc., and Ventaira Pharmaceuticals, Inc. He also is a director of Kopin Corporation (NASDAQ: KOPN) and Strategic Diagnostics (NASDAQ: SDIX). He has served on the New Jersey Governor's Commission on Science and Technology and is a member of the Research Roundtable of the National Academy of Sciences. He chaired President Reagan's Task Force on Innovation and Entrepreneurship, served as a technology policy advisor to President George H.W. Bush, and is a former president, director and chairman of the National Venture Capital Association.

Paat is a recognized industry expert in the field of e-business and data integration. His background includes 15 years of experience working with Global 1000 companies to identify, build and implement e-business and data-integration strategies. Prior to Sypherlink, he was founder, president and COO of EC Outlook, an e-business company that raised $36 million in capital, grew to 150 associates and secured several global 500 customers. Paat also held leading sales and management positions with e-business providers Checkfree Corporation and Sterling Commerce.

McCormick joins the Sypherlink board with more than 25 years of senior-level executive experience within such high-tech organizations as IBM, Paylinx, Sterling Commerce, Cybersource, Shared Financial Systems, Computer Sales International and G.A. Sullivan. He has a proven track record of leading, building and strengthening companies for aggressive growth and profitability through key business partnerships and alliances with Fortune 2000 companies.

Crocker joins the Sypherlink board with more than 15 years of venture investing experience. Prior to joining Reservoir Venture Partners, he was a partner at Alpha Capital Partners and the Northwest Ohio Venture Fund. He has extensive experience as an investor in health care, communications, information technology and other technology companies, and in sourcing, negotiating, building value and exiting venture investments.

Doyle joins the Sypherlink board with 40 years experience in new business development and in positioning the companies with which he works for substantial growth and long-term value. He founded Industrial Data Technologies Corporation, an innovator in factory automation and served as president and CEO for 21 years. He is a member and/or on the board of a number of business and civic organizations.
