IJIS Institute Elects Sypherlink CEO Paat to Board; Company’s Justice Practice Leader Chawdry Becomes IJIS FBI N-DEx Committee Adviser
DUBLIN, Ohio, July 20, 2009 –
Sypherlink, Inc., a leading information-management-software and NIEM compliance provider, today announced two of the company’s executives were selected to serve the justice community through positions within the Integrated Justice Information Sharing (IJIS) Institute.
Sypherlink CEO, James Paat, was elected to the IJIS Board of Directors, while the company’s Justice and National Security Practice Leader, Rehan Chawdry, was selected to join the National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS) / FBI National Data Exchange (N-DEx) Advisory Committee.
The IJIS Institute is a non-profit group focused on uniting the private and public sectors to improve mission-critical information sharing across the justice and public safety communities. Founded in 2001, the group is a result of the U.S. Department of Justice’s interest in raising private sector participation in the advancement of national initiatives affecting justice, public safety and homeland security.
Paat officially joins the IJIS Institute’s 11-member board during the group’s Board of Directors Meeting August 6 in Bellevue, Washington. The meeting precedes the association’s Summer Industry Briefing, to be held in August 9-11 at the Hyatt Regency Bellevue.
“James possesses the knowledge, experience and skills needed to serve in this critical role, as well as the motivation and energy required to effectively lead the IJIS Institute to further its mission,” said Paul Wormeli, executive director of the IJIS Institute. “As one of the candidates recommended by the Institute Governance Committee, we are pleased James was elected to the Board.”
“I look forward to serving IJIS and its membership and helping to further its mission to ‘serve as the voice of the industry’,” said Paat. “I believe collaboration will be the key – bringing together organizations with critical – yet different – capabilities around a common interest.”
Chawdry was selected as a member of the NIBRS/N-DEx Advisory Committee, a group which offers industry and, in particular, IJIS Institute member companies, the ability to collaborate with the FBI and state-level agencies to improve, expand, and make viable the national incident-based reporting system. Working with the FBI, the committee assists industry in responding to the needs of state and local law enforcement agencies in meeting national incident-based reporting requirements.
