Sypherlink and Teradata form Global Alliance
Sypherlink technology accelerates Teradata implementation process
DUBLIN, Ohio, June 29, 2004 --
Sypherlink, a leading technology firm that enables information sharing across multiple data sources, and Teradata, a division of NCR Corporation, today announced a global alliance to help accelerate Teradata data warehouse implementations.
As part of the alliance, Teradata and its clients will leverage the Sypherlink: Harvester suite of tools, which utilizes a patent-pending technology to automate the metadata discovery, analysis and mapping process in an unattended manner. This significantly reduces the overall time and manual effort involved in understanding data and getting it ready to be moved into a data warehouse.
"Sypherlink continues to partner with leading companies such as Teradata," said James Paat, Sypherlink President and CEO. "Teradata clients will realize significant value through shortened implementation timeframes and the ability to achieve ROI from their data warehouse more quickly."
Gartner positioned Teradata in the Leader quadrant in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Data Warehouses, 2003.
By leveraging Sypherlink: Harvester, Teradata clients will also realize benefits from the ability to rapidly prototype their data warehouse and quickly prioritize the order in which to load the data sources. Sypherlink: Harvester is complementary to most design & modeling and data manipulation tools, accelerating the extract, transform and load (ETL) process.

The Magic Quadrant is Gartner Inc.'s opinion and is an analytical representation of a marketplace at and for a specific time period. It measures vendors against Gartner Inc.-defined criteria for a marketplace. The positioning of vendors within a Magic Quadrant is based on the complex interplay of many factors. Gartner Inc. does not advise enterprises to select only those firms in the Leaders segment. In some situations, firms in the Visionary, Challenger, or Niche Player segments may be the right match for an enterprise's requirements. Well-informed vendor selection decisions should rely on more than a Magic Quadrant.
