Sypherlink Awarded Patent for Unique Automated Data Mapping & Prototyping Technology

DUBLIN, Ohio - May 12, 2006 -- Sypherlink, a leading provider of information integration software, today announced it has received a patent for its automated metadata discovery, mapping, and rapid prototyping technology. The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office granted the patent May 2nd, upon the determination that Sypherlink's technology was new and uniquely different from prior technologies in the data integration marketplace today.

The patent provides Sypherlink the exclusive right to prevent others from making, using and selling the technology, which is leveraged within its suite of information management tools, including Harvester™ and Exploratory Warehouse™. In addition, Sypherlink has extended key partners the right to market, sell and implement the technology as a means to accelerate their own product and/or service offerings.

Sypherlink's product suite reduces the time and costs associated with data integration initiatives by enabling organizations to quickly gain knowledge of where key data exists across the organization; access that data from multiple, disparate sources; and ensure the data is reliable and consistent. As a result, Sypherlink enables up to an 85 percent reduction in the time, costs and effort required for data sharing implementations.

"Within the data integration space, the data mapping process - understanding where key relationships exist between data sources - has traditionally been laborious, costly and error-prone," said Steve Adams, chief architect for Sypherlink. "This technology is the only solution available which automates the mapping process by analyzing data for metadata, structure and content. In addition, it can be used to represent multiple data sources as a single, virtual source to support a variety of data sharing initiatives."

"With the award of this patent, Sypherlink is uniquely positioned to expand our leadership role in the data mapping space," said James Paat, president and CEO of Sypherlink. "Our customers and strategic partners are further endorsement of the value our unique, complementary technology provides for accelerating data sharing initiatives."
