Sypherlink Named "Cool Vendor" by Leading Analyst Firm

Vendors Selected for "Cool Vendor" Report are Innovative, Impactful and Intriguing

DUBLIN, Ohio, March 31, 2006 -- Sypherlink, a leading provider of information integration software, today announced it has been included in the "Cool Vendors in Data Management and Integration 2006" report by Gartner, Inc., published March 13, 2006. The report was authored by Ted Friedman, Mark Beyer, Andreas Bitterer, Bill Gassman, Massimo Pezzini and David Newman.

The Gartner report discusses innovative approaches to the contemporary issues of managing and integrating data. In the report, Gartner Vice President David Newman states, "The challenge in data sharing is how to integrate vast amounts of information from disparate sources."

Every data integration and sharing effort brings with it the laborious, costly and error-prone task of mapping - understanding where key relationships exist between the data sources. Sypherlink's suite of information management tools accelerates the implementation of data sharing and integration initiatives, providing organizations a way to optimize business value and lower total cost of ownership.

Sypherlink utilizes its patented technology to automate the mapping process, and is the only solution available today that performs sophisticated analysis at three levels: data, metadata, and referential data. As a result, Sypherlink Harvester's™ automated mapping capabilities have proven to significantly accelerate either a centralized (data warehousing) or virtual (data federation) implementation by up to 50-75% over traditional means.

"It is a great honor to be recognized by a leading analyst firm for our innovative technology and accomplishments." said James Paat, president and chief executive officer of Sypherlink. "We believe Gartner's decision to name Sypherlink as a 'cool vendor' emphasizes the importance and impact that our solution can have on strategic data integration and sharing initiatives."

Sypherlink's Harvester software was recently chosen to accelerate implementation of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement's Exchange (FLEX) initiative, a $15 million project to facilitate data sharing across 500 statewide law enforcement agencies. Harvester is being used to help build a reusable metadata management platform for allowing access across the diverse data systems, avoiding costly rewrites of agency applications in support of critical information-sharing activities.

About Gartner's Cool Vendors Selection Process
Gartner's listing does not constitute an exhaustive list of vendors in any given technology area, but rather is designed to highlight interesting, new and innovative vendors, products and services. Gartner disclaims all warranties, expressed or implied, with respect to this research, including any warranties of merchantability or fitness of a particular purpose.

Gartner defines a cool vendor as a company that offers technologies or solutions that are: Innovative, enable users to do things they couldn't do before; Impactful, have, or will have, business impact (not just technology for the sake of technology); Intriguing, have caught Gartner's interest or curiosity in approximately the past six months.

About Sypherlink, Inc.

Today, this process - an essential first step in every data-sharing initiative - is manual, costly, and error-prone. Sypherlink automates the process, resulting in a much faster, less costly and higher-quality implementation. Sypherlink implementations have shown a 50 to 85 percent reduction in the time and costs associated with data sharing and integration initiatives.
