Florida Department of Law Enforcement Selects Sypherlink to Accelerate Statewide Criminal Intelligence Sharing Initiative

Sypherlink Harvester™ named standard metadata mapping and Global Justice XML compliance tool to be used across 500 law enforcement agencies.

DUBLIN, Ohio, January 18, 2006 -- Sypherlink, Inc., an information integration software provider, today announced the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) has chosen its Harvester™ metadata discovery and mapping software as the cornerstone for its plan to integrate vital law enforcement information across the state utilizing the Federal Global Justice XML Data Model (GJXDM).

The FDLE created the Florida Law Enforcement eXchange (FLEX) initiative to establish effective, secure and credible data interoperability among Florida law enforcement agencies and regional partners to assist with crime control and domestic security initiatives. The first critical phase of this initiative is to build, and then map regional systems to, the FLEX data model that will provide for a common vocabulary that is understood system-to-system and region-to-region. The FLEX model will adhere to the U.S. Department of Justice's GJXDM standard, designed specifically for criminal justice information exchanges.

Sypherlink Harvester was selected to support and accelerate the time-to-value and reduce the total cost of ownership for the FLEX initiative. Traditionally, this essential mapping phase is a very manual, resource-intensive and laborious process. It is estimated that Harvester will reduce implementation time and costs by 50% or more through its unique ability to automate the understanding and mapping of the data elements from the various law enforcement systems to the national standard GJXDM.

"Sypherlink's unique mapping technology was created for large, distributed data sharing efforts such as this. We are proud it has been recognized by such a prominent state as Florida and for such an important effort as integrated justice," said James Paat, president and chief executive officer of Sypherlink. "Every American stands to benefit from Florida's data sharing effort and we are excited to play an integral part in making that happen."
