Sypherlink, Justice/Public Safety Application Vendors Embrace Collaborative Approach to Speed and Improve Information Sharing and "Save Lives"
Enforsys, New Dawn Technologies, Tiburon and Xpediter Technology among companies who embrace Sypherlink NIE Gateway and NIEM standard for improved data sharing
DUBLIN, Ohio, October 25, 2010 – Sypherlink, Inc., a leading data-integration-software and NIEM conformance provider, today announced an industry collaboration, "NIEM Saves Lives", focused on speeding the implementation of nationwide information sharing in support of programs such as the FBI’s National Data Exchange (N-DEx) Initiative. Partners supporting the collaborative approach include leading justice and public safety application vendors Enforsys, New Dawn Technologies, Tiburon, and Xpediter Technology.
"This is our collective push to improve public safety information sharing," said Sypherlink CEO, James Paat. “It's both an innovative approach and a public service announcement to say that we can't afford to wait for information sharing. We’re agreeing – regardless of our individual business models and go-to-market strategies – to an approach that will benefit the industry and improve public safety.”
According to Paat, the collaboration partners – all leaders in their respective applications for capturing and managing justice and public safety records (such as law enforcement, court and prosecution data) – have embraced Sypherlink’s National Information Exchange Gateway as a NIEM-based data sharing platform for enabling:
- NIEM-compliant access to leading justice and public safety information sources;
- Faster data sharing program adoption; and
- Integration with existing and future user applications.
According to Paat, Sypherlink’s NIE Gateway Harmonizer solution promotes re-usability, flexibility and an "interface once…re-use many” principle. “Partners in this collaboration are not only supporting the NIEM cause, but can now more effectively support their client agency requests for interfaces to a variety of data sharing programs.”
“There is strength in numbers,” said Paat. “The interfaces supported through the NIE Gateway and its collaboration partners today, collectively, represent more than 500 agencies. By working together, we can significantly improve the time, cost and program adoption metrics for federal, state and local information sharing initiatives.”
“As an example,” Paat continued, “a state which has not yet begun to connect local police data to the FBI’s N-DEx program can immediately benefit from this collaboration and put hundreds of agencies – literally – on the doorstep of participation.”
The “NIEM Saves Lives” campaign is being launched around the 117th Annual Conference and Exposition of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, which takes place this week in Orlando, Florida and draws more than 10,000 sworn officers from around the world.
Paat encouraged other vendors and integration partners to join the campaign by visiting Sypherlink’s website at www.sypherlink.com/niemsaves, and noted that the firm is finalizing relationships with additional partners and anticipates support for more than a thousand agencies within the next 90 days.
