By combining patented technology, rich data sources and applications, and services into a single, best-of-breed infrastructure, the NIE Gateway provides, for the first time, automated, intelligent linkage across disparate data sources and much richer information to make better decisions.

The NIE Gateway solution consists of one or all of the following integration design and production components, depending on an organization’s specific needs:

Automated Discovery & Mapping Technology
Sypherlink’s unique data discovery and mapping technology – Sypherlink Harvester™ – utilizes a form of artificial intelligence and probability-based matching algorithms to automate the traditionally manual and time-consuming mapping process. Using Harvester, government organizations can accelerate and automate this cumbersome process, and reduce the time, effort and cost associated with it.

Reference Knowledgebase – to accelerate data conversions
Sypherlink has worked with and built custom interfaces to dozens of the nation’s leading records, case- and law-enforcement management systems. These interfaces enable agencies to export their data mappings to the next step in the data integration process, thereby jump-starting their participation in regional, state, or federal data sharing initiatives. Sypherlink will also build new adapters to additional agency and in-house applications. Once complete, these adapters become part of the Reference Knowledgebase library.

NIEM Reference Hub – to facilitate federal standards compliance
The NIEM Reference Hub contains a fully-relational data model which conforms to the National Information Exchange Model (NIEM) framework set forth by the U.S. Departments of Homeland Security and Justice. This relational model enables agencies to quickly and easily embrace the canonical NIEM standard.

The NIEM Reference Hub also serves as a staging area for data before it is moved into the production integration environment.

Interfaces to Rich Information Sources – for a more complete picture
The NIE Gateway also offers pre-built interfaces to rich information sources such as D&B’s commercial database of more than 110 million commercial business records and Acxiom’s Risk Mitigation data of several billion consumer records. By incorporating this information, law enforcement officials and intelligence analysts have access to a more complete picture. Information immediately accessible through the NIE Gateway includes directory information, professional license directories, property/personal asset information, financial data, and commercial business information.

Production Data Integration Components – designed to easily and cost-effectively accelerate government data sharing programs

• Sypherlink NIEM Harmonizer™ – This out-of-the-box component enables law enforcement agencies to quickly and cost-effectively share data while conforming to the national NIEM standard. Sypherlink works with the agency or application vendor to configure this component to work behind-the-scenes to provide NIEM standardization and validation, as well as to generate the simple or complex XML required by the receiving application.
• Sypherlink Data Mover™ – This lightweight and economical Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) tool provides a way to move data from one relational application to another. Sypherlink Data Mover provides change data capture of source data and can be used to create staging areas for agency production systems.
• Sypherlink Federation Hub™ – This production-ready data federation platform enables the ability to access existing, disparate data sources virtually, securely and non-invasively, as if from a single repository. Sypherlink Federation Hub then combines, abstracts and simplifies this complex data, and delivers it via data services. This platform includes a robust GUI-based interface for data modeling, data services building, services management, and security configuration.
