As the adoption of the NIEM standard grows, so do the resources available to support it. The following links provide information about NIEM research and education, training and technology assistance, and funding resources.


Research & Education:

  • Justice Information Sharing: US Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs - Explore policy, technology, and up-to-the-minute resources to help promote the implementation of Justice Information Sharing nationwide.
  • NIEM Adoption Use Case Studies: Documented case studies around the use of NIEM in information sharing and data integration programs.
  • The NISS Online Knowledgebase: an online, searchable knowledgebase that contains information about GJXDM, NIEM, and Information Exchange Package Documentation (IEPD) efforts.
  • IEPD Clearinghouse: The Information Exchange Package Documentation (IEPD) Clearinghouse provides information on a variety of IEPDs that have been submitted by individuals and organizations who have implemented the Global Justice XML Data Model (Global JXDM) and the National Information Exchange Model (NIEM).
  • Nationwide Suspicious Activity Reporting (SAR) Initiative (NSI): This initiative is currently an evaluation environment involving multiple pilot projects throughout the United States. The effort will be evolving into a national program to share terrorism-related SAR data at all levels of government.

  • Technology Assistance through the IJIS Institute:The IJIS Institute offers technology assistance to state and local jurisdictions to assist with the planning and implementation of information sharing projects in the justice, public safety, and homeland security domains.
  • The National Information Sharing Standards (NISS) Help Desk:helps users find answers to technical questions regarding the content, principles, and best practices for using GJXDM and NIEM.
